The United Kingdom is an excellent place for enjoying a vacation. The reasons for this include a stunningly beautiful countryside and a diverse history. The kinds of vacations available is stunning with such a massive choice of vacation destinations each of which feature different facilities and rural areas which range from areas with numerous mountains to mainly flat parts.  Below I examine the seaside and suggest the town of Southport, in the North West of England, as the finest seaside vacation destination in the British Isles.

Built on the North West coast of England, Southport attractions include, Lord Street, Wayfarers’ Arcade, Churchtown village, the Botanic Gardens at Churchtown, Churchtown village and more.

Lord Street

Lord Street is the main shopping street in Southport.  All along one side of Lord Street the broad pavement are covered by exquisite Victorian iron work together with a row of lush green trees closer to the road. On the facing side of the road there are  small areas of gardens, garden beds, fountains and a bandstand. Right in the heart of Lord Street is more than likely the most amazing war memorials in the UK with a centrally placed obelisk and two further monuments on each side which feature large columns. Some of the finest of Southport’s architecture is to be found along Lord Street and it is where you will discover Wayfarers’ Arcade, a covered shopping area.

Parks And Gardens

Hesketh Park

The incredibly beautiful Hesketh Park is found at the end of Lord Street. Hesketh Park is named after the Hesketh family just like Lord Street the park has plenty of trees. There are beautiful hidden areas to be discovered, a play park, glass house, bandstand and more to be found within Hesketh Park but the lake is the most prominent feature.

Botanic Gardens, Churchtown

At Churchtown you will find another wonderful park, the Botanic Gardens which has a river/lake featuring a bridge, boating, swans, ducks and other wildlife and if you enjoy birds and animals the Botanic Gardens also has a tiny zoo, just across the way from the museum and cafe. Churchtown village itself is a lovely number of ancient cottages, fishermen’s cottages and houses most of which are white and small number feature a roof of thatch. It is crucial that you explore on foot and that you are not afraid to look down alleys search every nook and cranny there are one or two hidden areas well worth the hassle to discover.
